Home & Living Supports
Supported Independent Living
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a valuable NDIS support that offers individuals with disabilities the flexibility to live independently or with others, according to their preferences and needs. At Elyte Alliance, we are dedicated to helping you find a home that perfectly suits your requirements and aspirations. Our shared homes are thoughtfully designed to create a comfortable and secure living environment. When matching housemates, we prioritize compatibility, taking into consideration your preferences, interests, and personalities. With our Supported Independent Living support, our ultimate goal is to empower you to lead an independent and fulfilling life, surrounded by a supportive and inclusive community that celebrates diversity and values each individual’s unique strengths and contributions.
Our SIL support entails various key elements:
- Providing Comfortable and Secure Homes: We ensure that all our properties offer a safe, comfortable, and conducive living environment for our customers.
- Assisting with Daily Tasks: Our caring and trained staff are here to lend a helping hand with day-to-day tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and personal care, ensuring that you have the support you need to lead a fulfilling life.
- Encouraging Personal Growth: We promote active engagement in hobbies and offer opportunities to learn new skills, like using public transport, to enhance your independence and self-confidence.
- Active Participation in Household Decisions: Your voice matters to us. We facilitate open communication and encourage regular meetings among housemates, enabling everyone to actively participate in decision-making and fostering a sense of ownership and belonging.
Independent Living Options
Individualised Living Options (ILO) is a new NDIS support that empowers people with disabilities to live in a home of their choosing with personalized assistance. ILO offers flexibility, allowing individuals to decide how and where they want to live, and with whom.
At Elyte Alliance, we provide both Exploration and Design and Implementation supports for ILO. During the Exploration and Design stage, we work closely with you, your family, and friends to understand your preferences, strengths, and required supports. Together, we create a unique plan incorporating both paid and unpaid supports to recommend suitable living options.
The Implementation stage involves making your plan a reality by helping you settle into your chosen home. We continually check in to ensure everything is working well, and if changes are needed, we work with you to implement them. Throughout the process, we provide monitoring and support.
With ILO, you have complete control over your living arrangements. You can choose to live with housemates, mentors, or on your own with flexible drop-in supports. The focus is on forming strong relationships with those around you.
It’s essential to note that ILO funding covers the personalized support package, not the property itself or daily living expenses like rent, food, or transportation. The funding falls under Core Supports – Assistance with Daily Living in your NDIS plan and is listed as a separate line item. The choice of the type of property, such as an apartment in the city or a house with friends in the suburbs, is entirely up to you.
Specialist Disability Accommodation
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is NDIS funding designated for individuals with high support needs who require specialized housing. Unlike Supported Independent Living (SIL) funds that cover in-home support from a Support Worker, SDA funds are allocated to the physical home where these services are provided.
At Elyte Alliance, we offer access to a diverse range of SDA properties tailored to individuals with significant support needs. These SDA homes are thoughtfully designed to enhance accessibility, comfort, and care, enabling greater independence and improved access to necessary supports within the home.
Depending on the specific SDA property, you may have the option to live with others or independently. The type of property you can reside in varies to cater to different needs and preferences.
SDA funding is separate from Supported Independent Living in your NDIS plan and is categorized as Capital Support. It covers the specialized housing requirements to meet your high support needs and enhance your overall living experience.
Medium Term Accommodation
Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) serves as a temporary housing solution for individuals waiting for a confirmed long-term arrangement. For instance, if you are awaiting home modifications or assistive technology before moving into your designated Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) property, MTA can be beneficial.
The NDIS typically funds MTA as a one-time support, allowing stays of up to three months (90 days) during the transitional period.
At Elyte Alliance, we offer MTA to bridge the gap when your long-term housing solution is not yet available. This includes situations like waiting for home modifications, assistive technology, confirmed SDA availability, a new build SDA completion, transitioning from hospital or aged care, or facing a breakdown of existing supports that make living in your current home challenging.
MTA is funded under Core Supports in your NDIS plan. To receive this funding, the NDIS requires evidence that you have a future accommodation arrangement at the end of the MTA period. While MTA covers the accommodation costs during your stay, you are responsible for other expenses like food, phone, internet, and bills as usual.
